So many things I need to share and do, but for now just a request for prayer for all and patience as this difficult process moves forward.
Basically, we are still under Emergency conditions in which emergency personnel are still seeking to restore basic community safety and secure affected neighborhoods. Red Cross and several agencies are still working to cover basic shelter, food, and medical needs. Cleanup is still primarily Neighbor to Neighbor, church to direct community.
Now that rescues are ending, the search for any who perished will begin. Emergency personnel will begin securing hazards in homes and neighborhoods (electric, gas, etc.).
Please collect share the every changing information you hear from your local area with your church members and local community, flyers handed with a smile and the love of Christ is a powerful gift.
Offers of specially trained UMCOR Early Response Teams are coming in and we are making arrangements for some of them to work in more secure areas by the end of the week.
Pray, pray, pray!

Hi all,
Two of the staff members of the Neighborhoods Resource Center are out in West Nashville, on Delray Drive, which was one of the hardest hit areas by flooding. They are encouraging more volunteers to come help with pulling wet and muddy stuff out of people's homes and with a little cleaning up. NRC works with a couple of neighborhood groups in that area, including RUN (Robertson Urbandale Nations) and also with the West Nashville United Methodist Church.
Some volunteers are already working -- but more are needed. If you can help, call either Tiffany Israel (545-7468 -- phone is low) or Melissa Gordon (586-3268).
Donations are also welcomed: Trash bags, gloves, cleaning supplies, bottled water, and Wal-mart cards (Some folks need socks, underwear, etc.)
You can take donations to West Nashville United Methodist Church (4710 Charlotte Pike).
Just to be safe, call Tiffany and Melissa to see if volunteers and donations are still needed when you get this message.
Thanks!!
Mike Hodge

We pray for our brothers and sisters in the midst of these Tennessee storms and floods. Lord, have mercy. Give strength and grace to those who are involved in implementing safety measures, to those involved in rescue and evacuation efforts, and especially to those who have been displaced -- or are at risk of being displaced. God, bring your people together to show their love for you in their love for their neighbors. Amen.
